Become a Shoe Drive Ambassador
Hearts for San Diego is holding a Community Shoe Drive Campaign to raise funds, help the environment and support microenterprise in developing nations. Our campaign will take place from September 1st to December 1st and we need all the help we can get to reach our goal of 300 bags of shoes! Hearts for San Diego will be scheduling mini shoe drives around the county.
We are seeking Shoe Drive Ambassadors to champion this initiative by reaching out to their networks and letting them know what we're doing and why. We will provide you with all the materials (bags and rubberbands) as well as marketing (flyers, door hangers, etc) and logistical information to ensure your success. You will find that many people will be happy to donate shoes, including:
Social clubs and community organizations such as sports teams and boy/girl scout troops
Gyms and fitness centers
If you are interested in becoming a Shoe Drive Ambassador, or simply helping out at one of the mini shoe drives, please contact us at info@HeartsForSD.org for more information. Your assistance is very much appreciated!
Hosting a holiday gathering or football party? Simply download one of the pictures below to send to your guests.
Then drop off your shoes at The Final Stomp on Dec. 28th and get one FREE raffle ticket for each pair of donated footwear!
"There are many worthy causes and organizations performing countless numbers of good deeds for the needy and underpriveleged. When asked to be a "shoe ambassador" for the first fundraising opportunity for Hearts for San Diego, it was an easy "I'm in" decision. I found it easy to ask for people to donate shoes that they no longer had a need for. Karen's new non-profit organization will give back two-fold. Raising money for local charities, and giving opportunity to many to start their own business in under-developed regions of the world. Thanks Karen for including me and I look forward to volunteering in future Hearts for San Diego events."

"I really enjoy volunteering for Hearts for San Diego. It's a wonderful feeling to have been involved with this organization from the very start of its launch and to watch it continue to grow everyday. I became a volunteer because I wanted to give back to our local community while having fun in the process. And I know first hand how organized and successful events can be with Karen leading the process.
I started helping with the shoe campaign by sending out one email to all my coworkers and suddenly I got flooded with responses and people bringing me their unwanted shoes. So, I started sending more emails to other friends and family and was able to collect several bags of shoes, and then I became a point of contact at one of the local drives. And to top it all off, the company where I work offers a matching grant program where they will make a payment grant to H4SD for my community service volunteer hours.
Karen and all the volunteers are very welcoming with warm hearts. It's such a rewarding experience to be a part of this great organization."

"I signed up to be a Shoe Ambassador and was immediately impressed by the mission, vision and core values of Hearts for San Diego. How exciting to be part of an organization that believes in connecting and inspiring communities to support local causes AND helps those local charities complete THEIR mission.
I volunteered at the Community Shoe Drive Kick Off Party in early September at Wang’s North Park. The room was electric! We collected over 700 pairs of shoes that night and I could feel the call to service swelling in my heart.
I know that it is easier for 10 people to collect 10 pairs of shoes than one person to collect 100
pairs so I set out to mention it whenever I saw people. Sometimes, it meant just a couple of pairs of shoes but in other instances, it ballooned. I asked my cousin to do a drive in her hair salon. That inspired one of her stylists to ask at her childrens’ school and at her church. Even my financial advisor is doing a shoe drive.
Being on Karen’s team has also allowed me to meet new businesses and awesome San Diego people. I am so proud to know Karen and be part of her organization. I KNOW that we are going to do great things AND will continue to have FUNdraising events for charities that are making a difference in OUR community.
Don’t forget to ask YOUR friends, relatives, acquaintances, neighbors and businesses that you frequent if they have shoes to donate!"
